50 Years After the March on Washington, Many Racial Divides Remain

Compared With Five Years Ago, Are Things Better or Worse for Blacks Today?

Today, only about one-in-four (26%) African Americans say the situation of black people in this country is better now than it was five years ago, down sharply from 39% in a 2009 Pew Research Center survey. Whites have a somewhat more positive view of black progress than blacks do themselves.
