Census: Minority Births Not Quite the Majority Yet

Minorities make up a larger share of the youngest Americans than of older Americans, but are not yet a majority even among newborns, according to new Census Bureau population estimates for 2013. The nation’s transition to a majority-minority youth population was slowed by the sharp decline in U.S. births, especially among Hispanics, following the onset of the Great Recession.
